How Many Total Acres Can This Mower Handle in a Season?
Enter mower type, deck width, terrain, and how many hours it runs per week and weeks per year. This shows the mower's total acre capacity for the season.
How this is calculated
Annual hours run is weekly hours times operating weeks. Acres per hour comes from Mowing Acres per Hour. Annual acre capacity is acres per hour times annual hours run.
Worked example
A 42-inch riding mower running 30 hours a week for 35 weeks is 1,050 hours a year. At about 1.22 acres per hour on open lawn, that mower can handle roughly 1,283 total acres across the season.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a demand forecast?
No, it is a capacity ceiling based on the mower's production rate and how many hours it runs. Whether you actually have that much work is a separate question.
How does this relate to justifying a second mower?
This shows the ceiling for one mower. See What Will It Take to Justify Another Mower to find the workload that would make a second mower worth buying.
Should I use this mower's maximum possible hours per week?
Use a realistic number instead, accounting for maintenance downtime, weather, and other equipment needs, not the theoretical maximum.
Does this account for multiple mowers running the same route?
No, this is single-mower capacity. If multiple mowers run a property simultaneously, see Can I Take On This Property, which supports that case directly.
