How Long Should This Property Take My Crew?

How this is calculated
Mowing time comes from property acres divided by an estimated effective acres-per-hour rate (same formula as the Mowing Acres per Hour calculator). Trimming, edging, and cleanup time is added as a percentage of that mowing time, based on the selected trimming tier. Crew size then multiplies total service time into crew-hours, the paid-labor unit that later pricing and cost engines build on. See Methodology for how every default here is sourced.
This assumes one mower runs for the property while the rest of the crew handles trimming, edging, and cleanup at the same time, so the property's elapsed time is driven by mowing time, not mowing time plus trimming time back to back. Crew-hours scale with crew size because everyone on site is paid for the full visit, not because more mowers are running. If more than one mower of the same type actually works the property at once, set "Mowers running at once" in advanced settings, it multiplies the effective mowing rate accordingly. For a genuinely mixed fleet running simultaneously (for example, a push mower and a riding mower on the same visit), run the numbers once per mower type and take the longest instead, this calculator doesn't model mixed types in one pass.
Worked example
A 2-person crew mowing a 1-acre property with a 42-inch riding mower on open lawn: mowing time is about 49 minutes at 1.22 acres/hour. Normal trimming (40% of mowing time) adds about 20 minutes. Total service time is about 69 minutes, which across a 2-person crew is roughly 2.3 crew-hours.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as trimming and cleanup time?
Edging along walks and beds, string-trimming around obstacles, and blowing off hard surfaces. It does not include drive time to the property.
Why is the trimming allowance a range of tiers instead of one number?
Real trimming-to-mowing ratios vary enormously by property, from almost none on open properties to well over the mowing time itself on heavily edged ones. Pick the tier closest to the property, or enter your own percentage in advanced settings.
How does crew size affect the result?
Crew size does not change how long the job takes, a 3-person crew still finishes in the same clock time as calculated. It multiplies that time into crew-hours, the total paid labor consumed, which is what feeds into labor cost.
Does the likely range include trimming time uncertainty too?
The range shown reflects mowing-rate variation (field efficiency). Trimming time is calculated as a fixed percentage of whatever mowing time falls in that range, so it moves with it, but the trimming percentage itself is not separately varied.
What if my crew runs more than one mower on the property?
Set "Mowers running at once" in advanced settings. It assumes same-type mowers working in parallel and multiplies the effective mowing rate accordingly. A mixed fleet (different mower types working simultaneously) is not modeled in one pass, run the calculation per mower type instead and take the longest.
